Thomas “Tom” Weir MBE (December 29, 1914 – July 6, 2006) was a Scottish climber, author and broadcaster. He was best known for his long-running television series Weir’s Way.
Weir became a pioneering campaigner for the protection of the Scottish environment, and wrote a column for The Scots Magazine for over 50 years. From 1976–1987, he hosted the Scottish Television series Weir’s Way, meeting the people of Scotland, exploring the landscape and its natural history.

Weir’s Way (5 DVD box set): In these DVDs, climber, naturalist and explorer Tom Weir takes us on a magical journey through his beloved Scotland – the original programmes were described as ‘Possibly the only TV series of all time that can be described as both soothing and endlessly informative.’ Tom shares his enthusiasm and passion for walking and shows how he has inspired many others to explore and appreciate their surroundings. Tom enjoyed the whole experience of the sky, the lochs, trees, birds, flowers, animals – the spiritual as well as the physical. Weir’s Way, introduced the Scottish countryside to many Scots whose lives had given them no prior knowledge or experience of it. Tom Weir has been given many awards including STV’s personality of the year in 1978 for Weir’s Way and the John Muir Trust Award in 2000 in recognition of his contribution to the wider understanding of the value of Scotland’s wild places. This special 5 DVD boxed set includes walks ranging from Glen Affric, Wester Ross; Loch Maree, Tarbert, The Sounth End of Kintyre, Anstruther and Largo, to Eriskay where Bonnie Prince Charlie made his first footprints on Scottish soil in 1745. A fabulous DVD set for anyone who loves Scotland and its beautiful wild places.
